Tampa, Florida

Tampa is a city on the west coast of Florida in the United States of America.

The Channelside Complex is a short walk from the terminal. Here you will find cinemas, restaurants and shopping. A tourist information kiosk and the Florida Aquarium is also here.

Places of interest include Busch Gardens Theme Park, Tampa Museum of Art, Clearwater beach and it’s attractions including Pier 60 Park family complex and Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruises.

Walk the trails and boardwalks inside the Moccasin Lake Nature Park. A 51 acre preserve, it offers bird watching tours, workshops and guided group hikes.

St Petersburg is ideal for antique lovers, wander more than 100 antique shops.

The Pier, the inverted pyramid that juts out a half a mile into Tampa Bay, is filled with shops, galleries, restaurants and a small aquarium.

The Sunken Gardens has an exotic collection of more than 50,000 tropical flowers and plants. Don’t miss the butterfly garden.

Salvador Dali Museum, the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by the famous Spanish master.

Plenty of choice for beaches including Indian Rocks Beach along Gulf Boulevard, Clearwater Beach for watersports and fine white sands and the peaceful and undeveloped Caladesi Island State Park Beach.

Where You’re Docked

Ships dock at the Port of Tampa Cruise Terminal, around 8 minutes from the downtown area.

Taxis and hire cars are available at the port.

The Channelside Complex is a short walk from the terminal. The Channelside complex is just a short walk from the terminal. Everything you could possibly want is close at hand,  from multiplex cinemas to shopping, the Florida Aquarium and plenty of places to dine, be it fast-food or a waterside bistro. There’s even a complimentary, 75-minute educational catamaran tour around the port on Wednesdays on Thursdays, although reservations are required. There is a tourism information kiosk, a spacious passenger lounge, and parking garage with valet parking.

Good to Know

Don’t waste time straightening your hair as Tampa tends to be extremely humid, especially in the morning hours. Additionally, the summer months see more rainfall than average. Tampa has enjoyed a substantial dip in crime rates during the past several years, and now averages about that of any major U.S. city. Take safety precautions you’d take in any city.
